PostHeaderIcon Supervision

Supervision is essential in assuring best practice standards are maintained, placing the welfare of clients as paramount while at the same time, offering appropriate support to therapists.

We value traditional approaches to supervision and in addition, we incorporate movement as an essential component in our approach. Supervisees are invited and encouraged to use movement as an additional tool to explore their therapeutic dilemmas. In group supervision this approach allows each supervisee to offer a possible working hypothesis, in the context of the dilemma being worked with. It is the task of the supervisor to choreograph this process and to facilitate the flow of movements through this dilemma as a supervisee finds a range of possible responses that inform the therapeutic process with their client.

This approach to supervision is unique to Embodied Psychotherapy Practice which offers supervisees the space and opportunity to move beyond the talk and thinking related responses; and beyond the ego characters that can get in the way of the unconscious. It is an experiential approach which accesses and engages with the unconscious in the present moment, integrating the thinking, feeling and behavioural responses of a collective body through movement and dialogue.

We offer individual and group supervision to those in training; those working toward accreditation and also to qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

Using traditional approaches, Embodied Psychotherapy Practice also draws on maps from Integrative Bodywork; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and 5Rhythms® Movement Therapy to choreograph the stages and processes of Presence; Intention; Expansion; Transformation and Integration
